Aren’t plugged drains such an annoyance?.

At the end of a tough day’s work, you get into the shower and enjoy the buzz of hot water on your face and then, suddenly your feet seem to go under water too – Oh no, the drainpipe is blocked once again!. A obstructed drain pipe, quite disgusting and a sign of problems to come!. And it’s not confined to the bath and shower, you could be brushing your teeth getting ready for bed only to be confronted with the sink filling up rapidly. Clearing choked drainage is something everyone wants to avoid because it’s such a messy task and the defective drainage make one appear unhygienic (and that’s what those drains are). Yet many residential bathrooms or kitchen will suffer from a obstructed drain pipe incident at one particular point or another. The best way to manage clogged up bathroom drains is to learn how to unblock them.

What Causes plugged drains in your home?.

Blocked drainage can result from trapped solid objects such as hair, dust and particles between your bathroom drain pipe and the attached pipes. The problem is further exacerbated when household products such as soaps, detergents, shampoos and conditioners and others are allowed to build up on the growing accumulation. Finally the accumulation becomes too thick to allow any water to pass through and it is then that the drains get completely blocked. When waste water drains very slowly or just stands stubbornly in the washbasin, you know you have a clogged drainpipe problem.

How to remove the drain blockage.

You can do a number of things to unblock your bathtub or bathroom sink drainpipe. The first thing you will have to do is take out the plug of the blocked sink or drain. You can easily remove the plug by pulling it off from the bathroom sink, however if it’s fixed under the sink then you need to unscrew the nuts. In the case of a bathtub, an overflow plate may have to be detached so that the entire assembly can be opened up, or there may be provision to unscrew the plug at the drain pipe itself.

The removal of the plug may allow you to spot the cause for the blockage. Whilst messy, it is nothing, but a mound of hair and fragments around the components of the bathroom drainpipe. Put on a pair of gloves and extract whatever blockages comes within reach. If it is out of reach, you can use a wire clothes hanger to remove it if you can hook into the debris and pull it. This step of removing the residual clumps will remove the local blockage at your drainpipe point.

In a case of deeper clogging, your hand or hooked wire may not do the trick – you may have to try the next step. The most practical way to clean such deep-seated clogs is a drainpipe plunger. Begin by covering the overflow drainpipe with a wet towel so as to create a stronger suction from the plunger. Then put the plunger over the drain pipe mouth and press it up and down repeatedly. You may find that this suction-push action of the plunger loosens the plugged debris down the pipe and the collected water now drains freely.

You can unblock the drainage through chemical drainpipe cleaner too if a drainage plunger does not work for you. Chemical Substances should be applied only after all else fails because they are risky and can damage your bathroom hardware.

Call in the drains Professionals.

After taking all the steps that you can carry out yourself, if the blockage still remains, it will be wise to call your neighborhood plumber or drainage services company for some assistance. Alternatively experienced drainage contractors like Dynorod have all the necessary equipment required to unblock the drains and inspect the interior with a CCTV inspection or drainage camera. It might cost you some money, but a plumber’s expertise can give quite a relief with this type of messy household problem.
