Are there any home recipes for drain uncloggers?

The ones I buy at the store seem like they don’t get the job done.
Thank you.

    baking soda and vinegar.
It will work best if there’s not water in the sink. If that’s the case, I’d get a plastic $1.99 sink snake and try that first.
After you get the water level down, try putting 1/2 cup baking soda in the drain, then slowly pour 1 cup vinegar. It’ll be fizzy. Leave it for 1/2 hour or so. Repeat if necessary.

First, using a wire coat hanger or something similar, see if you can pull anything out of the drain. Then, run the hot water for a few minutes. Next turn off the water and pour a cup of baking soda down the drain. Then carefully pour in a cup of vinegar. Wait a few minutes and then run the hot water for a few minutes again.

home depot has a great one that is in a plastic bag and it works like a charm. I dont remember the name but it is guaranteed. Otherwise the baking soda and vinegar may work

Safest and easiest (imo) is to pull the drain trap and clean it. That takes care of most issues. In fact, there are traps available with a cleanout plug in the lower portion, so you don’t have to take the trap off in most instances.

For a drain that’s just slow, try a big pan of boiling water — it’s a great use for the water you’ve just been boiling spaghetti in. Or a plunger of the proper sort. Or a drain snake.

I pour as much baking soda into the drain as I get in there, then I chase it with 2 cups of boiling vinegar. Works great at unclogging and gets rid of drain odors.
